SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A fight at a convenience store escalated into a police pursuit through streets and alleys Tuesday afternoon.

Police were investigating an assault that occurred earlier in the day at a convenience store, 2700 S. Adams St. (430 East), when they saw the suspect back in the area about 5:20 p.m., said South Salt Lake Assistant Police Chief Beau Babka. Officers attempted to pull the man over, but the suspect fled in his car and later on foot. Police gave chase and eventually arrested the 33-year-old man.He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of assault, felony fleeing, and several outstanding warrants, Babka said.
