Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend graduated from this life March 19, 1999. Her eternal companion, Ike, and sweet daughter, Mary, met her. What a joyous reunion!
Alta was born August 22, 1920 to Hulda Terace Barnhurst and Henry Nebeker Marshall in Hatch, Utah. She was the first of five children. Her siblings are William S. Marshall, James Fred Marshall (deceased), Edith B Sovelius, and John H. Marshall. She attended schools in Hatch and Panguitch, Utah. She graduated from the LDS Business College as a secretary. She served in the Northwestern States Mission. She married Ivan Ray Oakeson, June 3, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with seven children. Her family was her first priority, especially Sheila. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving others.We're grateful to Dr. Mark R. Johnson and nurse, Judy, all the nurses and staff at Alta View Hospital who were so kind and tender with our mom during her many visits there.
She leaves behind children, Karen, Sheila, Michelle, Ivan and David Oakeson, Laurie (Blair) Hutchings, Cynthia (Steve) Harmon; grandchildren, Sam, Heidi, Charles, Melissa, Natalie, Steve, Andrea, Erin, Sarah, and John; brothers, sister, brothers and sisters-in-law; also many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at 10 a.m. in the South Jordan 3rd Ward, 9750 South 2200 West. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
