We are fourth-grade students who are really upset about the bill passing that would allow elk to be shot down in cold blood in small, fenced-in areas. We don't understand how adults can allow this to happen. The elk would be raised for one reason and that is to be slaughtered without any chance of escaping. In school, we are learning about respect for nature and our earth and its creatures, so what kind of a message is this sending to us? We think it is very cruel.
This sets a bad example for young people. Why would people spend thousands of dollars to shoot down an innocent animal that has no chance to defend itself? First it's the elk, and then what next? We really couldn't believe this when we heard and read about it, and we sincerely hope this bill does not get signed.
