I was reading your article, "Folks off welfare say life is worse," in the Deseret News, March 12. As a former welfare recipient, I can tell you one reason why. Once you get on welfare and you then get a job, regardless of how much you make, say you make minimum wages, welfare will make you pay them back for the amount of time that you were on welfare.

Meaning that half of what you make goes back to them, therefore you're worse of than what you were before you were on welfare. I should know -- I lost my home because of the welfare system. They're just as bad as the horror stories that we have heard about of the IRS.Charlene Heckert
