The longest winless streak in Philadelphia Flyers' history is finally over.

The Flyers won for the first time in a month on Sunday, when Eric Lindros' goal with 1:53 left gave them a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.Philadelphia snapped its 12-game winless streak (0-8-4) despite the absence of suspended coach Roger Neilson and a knee injury that sidelined defenseman Eric Desjardins for the last eight minutes of the game.

"To finally get a win here, you know it's rewarding after a tough game and especially the last month," said Lindros, whose team won for the first time since beating Pittsburgh on Feb. 21. "It's just one game . . . but certainly right now it feels like a little weight is off."

Detroit took a 4-2 lead early in the third period on a shorthanded goal by Kris Draper, but the Flyers rallied to tie on goals by Mark Recchi and Mikael Renberg.

Lindros then put the Flyers ahead with his 39th goal of the season, one behind league leader Teemu Selanne of Anaheim. He took a pass from John LeClair in front of the net and fired the puck past goalie Chris Osgood.

Neilson was serving the first game of a two-game suspension for a stick-throwing incident last week, and Desjardins left the game after spraining a knee in the final period.

BLACKHAWKS 4, AVALANCHE 3: Dean McAmmond, acquired a day earlier from Edmonton, had a goal and assist as the Blackhawks won in Chicago.

McAmmond scored his 10th goal at 7:50 of the third period to give Chicago a 4-2 lead. Milan Hejduk scored for Colorado less than three minutes later, and the Avalanche had a chance to tie late in the third period. But Joe Sakic's shot hit the post and was gloved by a diving Jocelyn Thibault just before it cross the goal line.

FLAMES 2, ISLANDERS 1: At Calgary, Valeri Bure scored two goals as the Flames beat the Islanders.

PENGUINS 2, RANGERS 2: Mike Richter made 30 saves, including some key third-period stops and a great stop on Jaromir Jagr in overtime, to help the Rangers tie the Pittsburgh Penguins in New York.
