COPPOLA TAKING NEW ROLE -- AS OWNER OF A BISTRO
Francis Ford Coppola, already a purveyor of fine wines and pasta sauces, is adding a bistro to his list of ventures.The Niebaum-Coppola Cafe opens March 28 in San Francisco's North Beach area. The cafe will feature wines from the filmmaker's northern California winery, and pasta and sauces from his packaged Italian food business.
"It's sort of a crazy idea because it looks very much like a French cafe, but the food is more Italian," Coppola said. "What I want is that kind of relaxing and inviting and warm environment you get in some of the better cafes in Europe."

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder makes a surprise appearance as a fashion model in the spring-summer menswear catalog from Brioni fashion house. The chancellor, who is known for his smart if sober taste in tailoring, is shown being fitted for a suit by Brioni's top designer, Angelo Petrucci, Welt am Sonntag reported Sunday.
KING AND QUEEN OF SPAIN EXPECTING 2ND GRANDCHILD
The youngest daughter of the king and queen of Spain, Princess Cristina, is expecting a baby in October, the royal family said on Monday. The princess and her husband, Basque handball player Inaki Urdangarin, will provide King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia with their second grandchild.
BOSTON GROUP PREMIERES ORATORIO ON PEACE CORPS
An oratorio celebrating the founding of the Peace Corps by President John F. Kennedy 38 years ago made its premiere at Boston's Symphony Hall. The Handel & Haydn Society held two performances of "JFK: The Voice of Peace." Pulitzer Prize winner David McCullough narrated the oratorio by American composer Dan Welcher. The work included Kennedy's speeches and works by some of the president's favorite poets.
JUDGE KOCH, EX-MAYOR OF N.Y., SUFFERS HEART ILLS
Former New York Mayor Edward Koch was taken to a hospital Monday after suffering cardiac problems while working out at a health club, a spokesman said. Koch, 74, was in stable condition at New York Hospital's emergency room, said Emergency Medical Service spokesman Pat Cleary. Koch, more recently the judge on the TV show "The People's Court," was mayor from 1978 to 1990.
