Protesters in Manila hold banners and shout slogans to protest the building of Chinese structures in the Spratly Islands. The Philippines and China opened two days of talks here Monday to find ways to resolve their simmering dispute over the islands in the South China Sea. The Spratlys, a groups of islands, reefs and atolls, are wholly or partly claimed by the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam. The outcome of the workshop-level discussions was expected to be announced on Tuesday.
