Vern Henshaw has been named assistant superintendent of the Alpine School District. He will oversee and direct programs for students in junior high and high school.Henshaw, principal at Timpanogos High School, began working in the district in 1977 as a Lehi High School teacher. He also has worked in administrative positions as Provo High School and American Fork High School.
ELK RIDGE
A park impact fee for developers was recently adopted by the Town Council, but Tuesday the panel will also consider the fee.
The actual fee must be adopted by resolution, Jan Davis, town clerk, said. The council will also discuss adding on to its five-year capital facility plan in a work session that precedes the regular council meeting. It may also name a new planning commission member to replace Tod Schulthess, who moved away.
The work session starts at 6 p.m. and the Town Council meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 80 E. Park Drive.
LINDON
Air Switch Internet provider has approached the city about doing business in Lindon and the City Council is mulling over the proposal.
The company has submitted a franchise application to the city. Air Switch officials made a presentation to council members recently, explaining they want to make Internet access available to all Lindon residents. The council is evaluating the application.
MAPLETON
Several land-use issues will be discussed Thursday by the Planning Commission.
Included is an eight-lot subdivision, Kahari's Run, at 400 North and 400 East. Applicant is Dale Densley. Another project, a Chevron convenience store at 1042 W. U-89 is up for final approval. Dan Good is the applicant. A public hearing is scheduled to discuss how to figure frontages on cul-de-sacs. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 35. E. Maple St.
OREM
Changes to class schedules at several Alpine School District schools will be discussed by the Board of Education at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cascade Elementary School, 160 N. 800 East. Recent boundary changes to create a student body for a new school and reduce the headcount at others spurred the board to evaluate the reason for keeping classes on current year-round or expanded-day schedules.
PLEASANT GROVE
Richard Paulsen, administrative services director for Pleasant Grove City, has resigned.
He had served for three years as a city councilman before he was named executive director for the city's redevelopment agency. He then served in that post for a year before being named as the administrative services director.
With Paulsen's resignation, the position of administrative services director will be eliminated and incorporated into the Community Services division under the direction of Public Works Director Frank Mills.
PROVO
Utah Jazz owner Larry H. Miller will be the keynote speaker at the city economic development office's spring round table.
The forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 1 in the Provo City Council chambers, 351 W. Center St., from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Registration and a continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m. Reservations can be made by calling the economic development office at 852-6179.
