Phyllis Durfey Hales Richardson, 84, of Orem died March 20, 1999.

She was born December 17, 1914, in Box Elder, Utah, a daughter of Henry Oakley Durfey and Eva Vilate Jensen Durfey. She married Lucius M. Hales in 1936. She later married Loomis Richardson in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.Phyllis was a registered nurse and spent her life caring for others in home nursing. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a ward librarian, in the Relief Society Presidency, president of Young Women's and the M.I.A. She also served as a temple worker for many years in the Provo and Los Angeles temples. She was an avid genealogist.

Survivors include her stepson, Ronald Richardson, four grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Iris Durfey Vance, Beth Durfey Smith, Vienna Durfey Kelley, Marjorie Durfey Anderson and Carol Durfey Kislan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loomis Richardson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at 10 a.m. in the Suncrest LDS Ward Chapel located at 130 North 400 West in Orem. A viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Timpanogos Memorial Park Cemetery, Orem. Services under the direction of Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary.
