A three-car accident shut down a section of I-215 Monday afternoon.

Jennifer Quintana, 21, of Salt Lake, was traveling south on I-215 West about 3:30 p.m. Monday when she was apparently cut off by another car, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Verdi White II.Quintana took evasive action, White said, but overcorrected. Her car rolled twice on the interstate, landing on its wheels.

The vehicle then went through the median and onto the northbound lanes, where it collided with an oncoming van, White said. That van was rear-ended by another van unable to avoid the accident.

"(Quintana's) car was demolished," White said. "The accident happened at freeway speeds. There was no braking."

Quintana was taken by medical helicopter to LDS Hospital where she was in fair condition. The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated and released at the scene. All three used seat belts, and Quintana's air bag deployed.
