OREM -- Auditions and workshops are being held at the SCERA Center, 745 S. State, for three of the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre summer productions. In each case, auditioners are asked to be prepared to sing 16 measures of a Broadway song. SCERA will provide an accompanist.

Auditions and a youth workshop will be held Thursday and Friday, March 25 and 26, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., in Room B1, for the production of "The Music Man," to be performed at the Shell July 9-17. Anna Murdock will direct this production.All roles are available, with parts for a men's barbershop quartet, a young boy and girl, teens, adults of all ages and specialty dancers. Dancers should be prepared to perform (specialty dancers need not sing).

An additional 50 children can register for the SCERA Youth Theatre four-week summer workshop, which will enable them to perform in the "76 Trombones" specialty number. No auditions are necessary, and boys and girls ages 5-15 may register by calling 225-2569. The workshop will meet June 21-July 9, each Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $100.

Auditions for the Shell's production of "State Fair," to be performed June 18-28, will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 30 and 31, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., in Room B1 of the SCERA Center, under the direction of director Jerry Elison.

All roles are available, with particular need for adult men and women and for two quartets, one of adult men and one of young men. Auditioners should be 16 and older and be prepared for a simple dance audition.

Director Syd Riggs will hold auditions for the Shell's production of "Shenandoah," Friday, April 16, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, April 17, 10 a.m. to noon, in Room B1. This show will run July 30 and 31, Aug. 2, 5-7, 9, 12-14.

All roles are available, with particular need for a young black man and a variety of adult men and women. Auditioners should be 16 and older.
