ROOSEVELT -- A wedding ceremony ended minutes before it began Saturday when police showed up with an arrest warrant for the groom.

An Adult Probation and Parole agent in Salt Lake City called Roosevelt police to let them know he was looking for a man who had two felony warrants for child abuse and attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child. He had heard he was getting married and wanted him arrested. At first, Kenneth R. Stanley denied he was the man police were seeking when they questioned him as he was waiting for the 4 p.m. ceremony to begin, said Roosevelt police officer Tom Kosmack.

Stanley, 36, had changed his appearance, the officer said. He also allegedly gave police a phony name when they asked if he was Stanley. But when the groom started to shake, officers figured he was their man, Kosmack said.

He was handcuffed and led out of the building, much to the surprise of the wedding guests.
