Grace Sorensen Blackham, 91, formerly of San Diego, California, peacefully passed away at 1:55 a.m., Monday, March 22, 1999, at the Holladay Health Care Convalescent Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Grace was born May 19, 1907, in Moroni, Utah, the daughter of Ella Marie and Neils Peter Sorensen. She received her formal education at Brigham Young University where she excelled in Piano and also taught elementary school. Grace married her hometown sweetheart, Raymond Edgel Blackham in the Manti Temple, May 31, 1928 for time and all eternity. Grace and Edgel spent 42 wonderful years together before Edgel passed away in 1970. Grace was active in the LDS Church throughout her life. She was Ward and Stake Organist for many years in the Southern California Area. Grace prided herself in never working outside her home, devoting all her time and talents towards the rearing of her family. She taught private piano lessons in her home in the early years of her marriage. Grace was exceptionally kind in her association with everyone throughout her life.She is survived by her three sons, Bruce E., Boyd R. and Brian N. Blackham, and their spouses, three sisters, Donna Nay, Helen Rowberry and Rita Allred, two brothers, Calvin Sorensen and Dr. N. F. Sorensen, eight grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 25, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at Willow Creek 5th Ward, 2400 East Alta Canyon Dr. (8600 South), Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Church prior to the services. Graveside services and interment will be at the Moroni City Cemetery at 3 p.m. that same afternoon under the direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home.
