Lt. Col. Helen Patton passed away March 22, 1999.
Born Sept 1, 1905 near Cawker City, Kansas to David Allen and Martha Leah Patton. Helen served in the armed forces for over 20 years as a Register Nurse in the Army Nurse Corps. She was Chief Nurse of six army hospitals and a hospital ship plying from NY Harbor to Casablanca, Africa during World Ward II. She spent several tours of duty in the Philippines and Okinawa serving with Gen. Douglas MacArthur in Manilla in 1937. Helen retired from Brook Avery Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, July 31, 1949.After retiring from the army Helen spent many years in Salt Lake City doing Genealogical research which became her passion.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Milton, Walter and Claude Patton and one sister, Gladys Mitchell. She is survived by one brother, Sheldon Patton, Saratoga, WY; and three sisters, Ruth Walcher, Winfred Emerson and Pauline Bradshaw all of Sun City West, AZ. And numerous nieces and nephews of whom four live in this area, Betty Greer, Orem; Pat Stubbs, Provo; Diana Brown, Farmington; and Sharon Ford, Salt Lake City.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 25th at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 630 East, Provo, Utah at 11 a.m. Cannon Mortuary Funeral Directors The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Draper Rehab for the fine care they have given Helen during the last three years.
