SOUTH OGDEN--Barbara Stephens Butler Flint, 72, died peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning, March 20, 1999, of natural causes. After many years of illness and suffering, she is now with the ancestors she served through her genealogical research.

She was born April 15, 1926 in Ogden, a daughter of Alma Butler and Myrtle Ivy Stephens. On July 10, 1946, Barbara married Murland Young Flint in the Logan LDS Temple. Barbara and Murland celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1996. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was reared and educated in Ogden where she lived most of her life. Barbara was a member of the Ogden 75th LDS Ward. A large portion of her life was spent doing genealogy and temple work. She had the wonderful opportunity of visiting her ancestors' homeland in England and Ireland.Barbara worked for many years for the federal government at Dugway Proving Grounds and Hill Air Force Base. She also worked several years as a medical transcriptionist for the Ogden Clinic. She always had a great interest in, and love for, the medical field.

Surviving are her husband, Murland, of South Ogden; two daughters, Shari (Dr. Kenneth) Knight, Spanish Fork; Marsha Flint, St. George; two sons, Allan (Sharon) Flint, Salt Lake City; Dr. Ivan (Martha) Flint, Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by one brother, Wayne S. Butler, Ogden; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Alma Butler; and two sisters, Ina Bingham and Arlene Sherwood.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27th at 11 a.m. at the Burch Creek Stake Center, 5640 South 850 East in South Ogden. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Stake Center from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to any genealogical group of your choice.
