Col. Edward Fisher, who once served at Dugway Proving Ground as a captain and later as a lieutenant colonel, took charge of the desert base Wednesday in a change-of-command ceremony.
Fisher, 49, a native of Couer d'Alene, Idaho, replaces Col. John A. Como, who was assigned to the Pentagon.Fisher transfers to Dugway from Edgewood, Md., where he worked with business matters in the Office of the Program Manager for Chemical Demilitarization.
A graduate of Idaho State University, Pocatello, he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He followed this with a master's degree in systems management at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne. Fisher's military education includes studies at the Army's Command and General Staff College and the Army War College.
His past assignments include: artillery forward observer and chemical staff officer in Germany; combat developments staff officer at Fort Monroe, Va.; executive officer and chemical operations officer at Fort McClellen, Ala.; chemical staff officer in the Pentagon; and research and development coordinator at the Pentagon for the Chemical and Biological Defense Command.
The most recent assignment Fisher filled at Dugway was as lieutenant colonel in charge of the Materiel Test Directorate.
