Marilyn Hanna Jones, our wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandma, passed away in Salt Lake City on Monday, March 22, 1999, at the age of 73, due to a heart ailment.

She was born in Price, Utah on March 21, 1926 to Joseph Loren and Florence Barclay Hanna. She married Arthur W. Ray, Jr. June 9, 1948. He died in 1957. She married Earl Barnett Jones September 11, 1959.Marilyn graduated from the University of Utah, earning a B.S. degree. For many years, she was a secretary for United States Steel Corp., making friendships she valued throughout her life. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society secretary, among other callings. In her younger days, she was an avid golfer, winning a city tournament, and enjoyed fishing in mountain lakes with her family. In more recent years, she enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Hawaii and Europe. She and her husband also organized and directed many bus excursions for friends, visiting places throughout the United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. Above all else, Marilyn's life was dedicated and selflessly devoted to her family. She loved listening to her daughter Carolyn play the piano and spending an evening with her grandson, Brandon. But friends may perhaps remember her best as the lively little lady in the bright fish-print shirt behind the counter at Piccadilly Fish 'n Chips where she loved working with her son Allan and his wife Natalie, the owners, and all of their employees. For over nine years, she found great pleasure in meeting customers and being of service.

Marilyn was a tireless worker who believed in always doing her best at any task. Though afflicted with various health problems throughout her life, she bore them with courage and strength. There can be no finer example of enduring to the end.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; daughter, Carolyn Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Natalie Jones and their son, Brandon; stepson, Blair Jones; brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Hanna; and her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ruth Ray and Janice Ray, all of Salt Lake City.
