BYU/SUUWOMEN'S GYMNASTICS: School records and career marks were set one after the other by BYU gymnasts Thursday at the Marriott Center as the Cougars scored a season-high 196.05 to defeat Southern Utah in its final home meet of the year. Southern Utah scored 192.85.
Even though BYU freshman Kelly Parkinson returned from an injury to win the all-around competition with a career-high 39.425, the night belonged to the Cougars' only senior Natalie Broekman. Placing third in the all-around after teammate Kim Little (39.350), Broekman (39.050) helped the Cougars set team records in three of the four events.
The Cougars hope to repeat their performance Saturday when they take on No. 3 Utah in Salt Lake City. The meet will start at 7 p.m. and will be televised on KJZZ channel 14.

MEN'S GYMNASTICS: The ninth-ranked BYU men's gymnastics team travels to Norman, Okla., to compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Friday and Saturday. The team competition will take place Friday with individual competition following on Saturday. The Cougars, 16-3 on the year, expect to be a strong challenger to No. 7-ranked Oklahoma the tournament's host, and No. 8 Nebraska. This will be the Cougars final meet before hosting the NCAA West Regionals in Provo on April 10.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: USU women's tennis team decisively defeated Southern Utah University Thursday afternoon in Cedar City. The Aggies jumped out to a 2-1 game lead in the doubles portion of the match, and never looked back as they cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah. The win improves Utah State's record to 2-9 on the season, while the loss drops SUU to 2-2.

MEN'S TRACK: A 12-man contingent will represent Weber State University at this weekend's Stanford Track and Field Invitational in Palo Alto, California. The two-day meet on Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, is one of the biggest outdoor meets of the season in the western United States each year.
WOMEN'S TRACK: Weber State's women's outdoor track and field team, opens its 1999 season this coming Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
