AMERICAN FORK
Two annexation proposals were forwarded on to the planning commission Tuesday to draw up the proper documents. The City Council held public hearings on the LandCo and Strate annexations before taking action.The LandCo annexation, at 1550 N. 900 East, consists of more than 10 acres destined for development by LandCo Development. The Strate annexation, at 1550 South and 600 East, is north and west of the city sewer treatment plant. It includes several property owners tied together by All American Development and Construction, a planning official said.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN
Eagle Mountain City Fire & Rescue, in cooperation with the Utah County Fire Marshal's office and the Utah State Division of Air Quality, has announced open burn dates from April 17 to May 16.
Single day burn permits can be obtained from the town offices at 1680 E. Heritage Drive and more information is available by calling 374-BURN or 343-4100.
"It is very important that people understand they must burn only in the established burn period from April to May," said Fire Chief Eric Taylor.
LEHI
"Damn Yankees" opened Thursday at the Lehi High School, 180 N. 500 East, and continues through Saturday, March 27, to Monday and Tuesday, March 29-30.
Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 per person, $4 for children and students with activity cards. Tickets are available from the school financial office or from cast members.
OREM
A ribbon cutting/grand opening event for Springwater Park is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, at noon. The public is invited to participate.
Dignitaries will be present and there will be treats and balloons for children.
The six-acre park, complete with playground, pavilion, restrooms and ballfields, is at 950 S. Artisan Drive in the Springwater subdivision at approximately 1700 West.
OREM
Three Utah Valley State College staff members have been honored as employees of the semester. Lois Hicks, Jaime Winn and Mike Duffin each were given $500 for exemplary work ethics.
Hicks works in the school's gymnasium, Winn is an employee of the child and family education department and Duffin is a staffer in the campus computing office.
PLEASANT GROVE
Police Capt. Tom Paul has been named the new police chief for Pleasant Grove, essentially dividing the jobs held previously by former chief Mike Ferre.
Ferre continues to serve as the public safety director over the fire, ambulance, first response, emergency preparedness and police departments. Paul will serve under Ferre's direction as will Fire Chief Mark Hales. Each department also serves Lindon. The new assignments took effect March 17.
PROVO
Ronald McDonald and his magic show will come to the Provo Towne Centre mall Saturday, March 27, at the Rock Canyon Cafe franchise.
He will meet guests between 2 and 4 p.m. and perform a half-hour show at 2 and again at 3 p.m. The shows are free, and following each performance children may meet the restaurant icon and pose for pictures with him. Prizes will be given away as well on Saturday and again on April 3 and April 10, at 3 p.m. each Saturday.
SUNDANCE
The String Orchestra of New York City will celebrate Easter with a free concert at Sundance Resort on Friday, April 2.
The orchestra will begin playing at 7:30 p.m. in the Sundance Rehearsal Hall, and seating is limited. For complimentary reservations, call 223-4078.
