Velma Ann Jackson Phillips, age 69 of Eureka, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 1999 at her home.
She was born July 29, 1929 in Loa, Utah, a daughter of Alton Fredrick and Nannie Ennice Ellsworth Jackson. She married Verl Dean Phillips, August 9, 1947 in Springville, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized February 7, 1959 in the Manti LDS Temple. Velma's special interest was her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and singing. She also enjoyed fishing when she could find the time to slip away. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous capacities. In addition to her individual vocal selections, she sang in both ward and stake choirs.Survivors include: her husband, Verl, of Eureka; five daughters and two sons, Ina Gae Fox, West Valley City; Celia Jan (Gary) Knapp, Springlake; John Dean (Pauline) Phillips, Boise, ID; Marsha Ann (David) Knutsen, Lehi; Becky Norene (Dan) Ekker, West Valley; Michael Ray Phillips, Logan; Lynchee Allen Lund, of Nephi; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, three sisters, a stepbrother, and a stepsister. She was preceded in death by a son, Verl Grant Phillips.
Services will be Saturday, March 27, 1999, 11 a.m., in the Eureka LDS Ward Chapel, 70 E. Main Street. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 S. 100 West, Payson, Friday, 6-8 p.m., or at the church Saturday, 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery at 2 p.m.
