WASHINGTON -- The Immigration and Naturalization Service is adding 21 new agents in Utah, Sen. Bob Bennett announced Friday.

Bennett, R-Utah, last year added language to an appropriations bill instructing the INS to take such steps to help more quickly deport illegal aliens involved in criminal activity in Utah, which is a crossroads of the West.Utah is one of 10 states benefiting from a $21.8 million program to deploy new INS Quick Response Teams to take into custody and remove any undocumented and criminal aliens apprehended in Utah.

Bennett said that will ease pressure on local jails.
