Our little farm girl left us on March 24, 1999. Veda Alene Kofford Taylor, born July 6, 1916, loved parents Bill and Veda Kofford and her brother and three sisters. She loved husband Paul and children Janet, Paula, Bryce, Jill and Byron and all the grand kids and a host of other dear ones. She cherished Cherry Hill Farm, the land she and Paul cultivated, as a place of peace. She loved Mount Timpanogos and would never wander on the farm without pausing to smile and enjoy her beauty. Bountiful nature with her infinite miracles, whether the birds that came to her feeder or the violets she nurtured in her kitchen, always quickened her radiance. She showed her love for life by leaving kindness and a smile wherever she walked. We don't know how we'll live without her, but are certain that somewhere in the treasury she left, we'll discover gifts of courage.
She worked beside her father Bill in his little store and gas station on State Street in Orem during the early years. She was ever proud of her mom and dad and never missed a chance to share the lessons of integrity and industry learned at their hands. She attended Sharon School and graduated from Lincoln High School when she was just fifteen. Later she worked as a secretary at Telluride Motor, Geneva Steel during its construction, and Union, Geneva and Cascade Elementary Schools. In 1973 she was cofounder, with Paul and Bryce, of Taylor National Real Estate. She moved to the farm in December of 1941 when she married Paul. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She spread her gifts in service to all of the LDS Church auxiliaries and found special joy serving with Paul as a missionary in the Texas San Antonio Mission in 1979. She proclaimed to all her faith in God and love of the LDS Church. Mom's homemade cinnamon muffins served with cold Cherry Hill milk under the catalpa trees at the farm gave us a little taste of Heaven. She sewed dresses for the girls, and stitched and quilted and planted, making the home at the farm a sanctuary for all who stopped.
She's cherished by husband, Paul H. Taylor; children, Janet (Steve) Dawson; Paula (Mark) Rowe; Bryce K. Taylor; Jill (Mark) Ringger; and Byron (Cindy) Taylor; Sister, Jean Merritt, of Redondo Beach, California; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Two grandsons preceded her in death.
