Wednesday, March 31, will be another free admission day at Hogle Zoo.
The free day is made possible through the Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) tax funds that come to the zoo from Salt Lake County, said Jan Murphy, who was recently appointed zoo public relations coordinator.Zoo visitors were also admitted without charge to the animal park on Feb. 24. The zoo receives approximately $1.5 million a year from the tax. Many other organizations, such as the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and Utah Opera, also receive money from the tax.
"Temperatures have been warming. Lawns are getting greener and flowers are beginning to bloom. It's a nice time to visit the zoo," Murphy said.
During the spring, the zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Grounds remain open until 6 p.m.
