MURRAY HILL, N.J. (Dow Jones News) -- Lucent Technologies Inc. said Monday it signed a four-year agreement to supply AT&T Corp. with $1 billion in equipment and services.
Under the contract, Lucent will work with AT&T to build networks for AT&T's new 1900-megahertz wireless service, DigitalPCS, as well as provide enhancements for existing 850 megahertz networks.Lucent will also supply digital wireless equipment for AT&T's new markets, including Autoplex Series II base stations and mobile switching centers with the 5ESS switch.
Murray Hill, N.J.-based Lucent designs, builds and sells telecommunications equipment. The company had profits of $970 million in 1998 and sales of $30.1 billion.
AT&T, based in New York, had 1998 earnings of $6.4 billion on sales of $53.2 billion.
