PROVO -- While the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce believes a proposed business sign ordinance will make the city more visually appealing, it wants the Provo Planning Commission to make the change easier for business owners.
Chamber President Steve Densely said a new ordinance should "grandfather" existing signs and provide incentives to businesses willing to comply earlier."Many of them support beautifying our community but feel they shouldn't be solely responsible for funding the project," Densley said.
The Planning Commission is considering revisions to the proposed law before sending it to the City Council. The last draft required free-standing signs to be replaced with uniform monument signs citywide within 10 years.
