OREM -- Manpower Temporary Services reports encouraging hiring plans from local firms for the spring period.

A quarterly poll just released by the staffing service shows that 56 percent of the firms plan to add staff during April/May/June. None expects to cut back."The spring months typically jump-start the job market as businesses emerge from the winter lull," said Manpower spokesman Ingrid Schnorr. "For the second quarter of last year, the outlook was less robust. Three months ago in our area, employers expressed more restraint on hiring intentions, and 6 percent foresaw the need to trim personnel."

Demand for workers nationally will remain near seasonal expectations, with 29 percent of the firms interviewed planning to add employees. Six percent anticipate a cutback, 61 percent foresee no change and 4 percent remain uncertain.
