Mary Virginia Park Boonstra passed away March 1, 1999 from causes incident to age.
She was a proud, giving and spiritual woman. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.Bami was born Oct. 11, 1900 to William and Susan Park in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie for three years, but had to leave due to ill health. She then attended the University of Utah and received her Bachelors of Arts degree in 1922. It was during this time she met and married Henry Boonstra, one of the first airmail pioneers. After graduating from the University of Utah she took many teaching jobs throughout the Salt Lake valley. She particularly enjoyed her years teaching English at Rowland Hall. she was an avid reader and considered books her friends. She and Henry traveled extensively throughout their marriage and she loved telling of all the interesting places and people whom they met.
She was a member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church, Tri Delta Sorority, PEO Sisterhood, the Alta Club, Salt Lake Country Club and numerous book clubs. Her religious beliefs guided her throughout her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Dolly Beckstead, Grand Junction, CO; Beth Travis, CA; her grandchildren, Anne Stromness, John Rains (Roxann), Robbie Rains (Roxanne), and grandchildren, Cole and Dane Stromness, Sarah Rains, and Jorgi Rains.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 9, at Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 So. 1700 East at 11:30 a.m. A Reception will follow in Christensen Hall, at the church.
