PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Heinz USA is recalling certain six-ounce jars of "Heinz 3" broccoli, carrots and cheese baby food because it may contain pieces of plastic.
Deb Magness, spokeswoman for Heinz USA in Pittsburgh, said Monday not all six-ounce jars of that variety of baby food contains plastic -- only those with the production code of P3388EA, which is printed on the jar lids.Varying sizes pieces of plastic that may be used in baby food containers likely got in the supply of raw ingredients during a single shift during which the food was made, she said. Magness said officials don't know how many jars of food were affected, but the number was "not significant."
She said Heinz officials informed grocers and other customers on Monday and advised them to remove the unsafe jars from shelves. Consumers with questions can call Heinz USA at 1-800-782-8408 for further information.
