Richard James "Dick" Bannan, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Riverside California, on Saturday, May 29, 1999, from a lingering illness.
Richard was born in Salt Lake City, February 25, 1922, to Harlan William and Roverta Swift Bannan and has resided in Riverside, California for the past 25 years. Dick married Janet Mackey, December 20, 1944, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Richard served in the United States Air Force during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired after 30 years of service in 1972 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring he worked for the Riverside County Housing Authority for 14 years.He is survived by wife, Janet of 54 years; son, James, of Saudi Arabia; daughter, Kim, of Corona, California; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
Funeral services were held at the Arlington 1st Ward Chapel in Riverside California on Thursday, June 3, 1999, and interment followed at the Riverside National Cemetery with Military Honors.
A memorial service for Richard will be held Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Taylorsville 1st Ward Chapel, 4845 Woodhaven Dr (1365 W. 4800 S.)
