Obituary: Nephi James Bates

Nephi James Bates, 75, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, of Sandy died June 8, 1999.

He was born February 15, 1924 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada, the son of Franklin Richard and Effie Corine Henderson Bates. He had worked many years at Western Nut Company of Salt Lake City. He was a sports Enthusiast enjoying all sports. He served in the Calgary Highlanders and the R.C.A.F. during World War II. Nephi was a sharp quick wit.He is survived by a daughter Diana (Jerry) Hoganson, Sandy; sons, Allen and Brian of Canada; Blake of S.A. and Alled L. of Sandy; seven grandchildren; sisters, Flora Kesler Brigham City; Lois Sillito Alberta, Canada; Thetis Barnett, Orem; and Betty Peterson, Provo; a brother, Joseph Bates of St. George.

Graveside services will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates (6500 South Redwood Road) Friday June 11, 1999 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to services. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates.
