Utahns urged to fly flag, show patriotism Monday

Utahns are encouraged to show their patriotism by flying the Stars and Stripes on Flag Day, June 14.

"I encourage everyone to fly the American flag out of respect for the sacrifices of our military veterans, pioneers and brave forebears. The U.S. flag is the one symbol in America that represents the values, diversity, freedom, democracy and strengths of the greatest nation on earth," said LaVonne Willis, state director of veterans affairs."Let's show our colors, Utah! Let's honor the American flag on Flag Day, June 14," said the veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The flag, Willis said, has inspired millions of people throughout history. The flag's red, white and blue symbolize courage, purity and loyalty.
