Obituary: Diane Birkinshaw Case

On the 10th day of June, 1999, Diane Case peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She left this life with the same dignity and determination with which she lived. The cancer may have overcome her body but it never conquered her spirit.

Diane was born the 6th day of November, 1932, to John and Maude Adams Birkinshaw. Lived in the Salt Lake City area all her life. Married Eugene L. Case on Valentine's Day 1959. Diane is survived by her husband Eugene; children, James (Beverley) Case, Catherine (Mack) McBride, John Case, Julie (Stephen) Isaac, Evan (Kathy) Case; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Dennette Case.Diane's family was the focus of her love and attention often taking priority over her needs and wants. She would fiercely defend their well being before her own. She had a zest for life, a thirst for knowledge, a love of beauty and a respect for nature. Her talents were varied and her accomplishments many. She enjoyed camping, dancing, motorcycling, traveling the country with her trailer, cooking, gardening and SHOPPING.

Diane was vibrant, intelligent, and tenacious. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She will be best remembered for her caring concern of others. Her grace, courage, and strength in the face of her many challenges will be a source of inspiration for the rest of our lives.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
