Obituary: Vivian Meads Jones

Vivian Meads Jones passed away June 9, 1999, in Draper, UT from incidents to age.

Vivian was born June 23, 1923, in Los Angeles, CA, to Frank and Lillian (Read) Meads. She grew up in Salt Lake City, UT. She married Abner R. Jones on January 17, 1942, in Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Abner preceded her in death on August 9, 1955. She remained a widow for 44 years because "no one could ever take his place in her heart." She lost a son, Ralph Dennis Jones, in February 1972. Life's challenges for her were that of losing her loved ones too soon.Vivian was a very compassionate person, especially with small children and elderly people. She worked as a foster grandparent at the Neighborhood House and received awards for her contribution. She also worked in the nursery at L.D.S. hospital, which was a joy to her. She loved spending time with family, especially on holidays and vacations.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Becky DeHaan, Sandy, UT and her son, Kent G. Jones, Riverton, UT; brothers, Frank Meads, Klamath Falls, OR; Dr. Garner B. (Marian) Meads, SLC, UT. Preceded in death by a brother, Arthur (Bud) Meads and a sister, Thelma "Pidge" Blosch. She had 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff at Draper Rehab for their devoted, tender, and compassionate care of Vivian.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 14, 1999, 12 noon at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Avenue & N Street. Friends may visit the family at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Sunday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. and Monday from 11-11:40 a.m. prior to the graveside.
