NEW ORLEANS -- Brian Richardson drove in two runs and Shane Bowers allowed just two hits in six innings Monday night as Salt Lake beat New Orleans 3-2 and extended its Pacific Coast League winning streak to four games.
The Buzz scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth when, with two out, Brian Buchanan doubled to right center-field and scored when Richardson followed with a single.Richardson drove in one run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning, then Salt Lake took a 2-0 lead in the third on George Williams' two-out, RBI single.
The Buzz, which dealt New Orleans its fourth straight loss, then survived a rally in the ninth. Reliever Tom Fiore got Jamie Saylor on an infield dribbler to end the game.
Bowers (2-0) went six strong innings, striking out four and walking one before yielding to Dave Carroll in the seventh inning.
