I believe that the Winter Olympics will be a good thing for Utah. I agree that accelerating needed improvements to the stadium, roads and building new venues that will be used long after the Olympics are over is appropriate.
However, the proposal described in the June 12 article (Page A1 "SLOC bid for transit funds called excessive") about SLOC's request for $58 million to build temporary parking lots appears absurd and unconscionable. I vigorously protest investing $58 million to build (and presumably remove) "temporary" parking lots that will be used for perhaps a month.
