Members of Boy Scout Troop 999 carry an old American flag to be burned Monday night. In honor of Flag Day, Provo residents gathered in a parking lot on Freedom Boulevard to burn their tattered and worn flags. According to U.S. Flag code, "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." Monday's event was sponsored by the Freedom Festival.
