Obituary: Rex Alton Beckstead

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Rex Alton Beckstead, age 82, passed away June 13, 1999 in West Jordan, Utah.

Born March 15, 1917 in Manila, Utah, son of Henry Alton and Cecil Twitchell Beckstead. Lifetime member of VFW and Disabled Veterans. Former Commander of VFW Atomic Post 4355. Served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.Survived by wife, Mary Arlene Pope Vert; daughter, Shauna (Dennis) Lewis; son, Mark Rex (Laura) Beckstead; Sheila Robin McCarty; stepdaughters, Roselynn Dawn Brown and Jacqueline Kay (Terry) Enger; stepsons, George (Mary) Mecham; Adrian (Dixie) Vert; Arnold (Kristen)Vert; Aaron (Vickie) Vert; sister Adeline (Krit) Petty; brother, Jesse (Birdean) Beckstead; sister, Louisa Holt and brother, Melvin (Maggie)Beckstead. He will be missed dearly by his family and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene, brother, Ned, grandson, Jady, stepdaughter, Mary Louise.

Rex and Arlene's home was always open to whoever needed them.

Funeral services Thursday, June 17, 1 p.m., Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
