Jon Heaton of Magna gets ready to mount his horse in Murray for his leg of the Pony Express re-enactment ride about noon Monday. Since June 8, riders have been re-creating the Pony Express ride from Missouri to California. The mail arrived Monday in Eagle Mountain, Utah, five hours late after getting lost during a stormy ride in Wyoming Sunday night. The mochila, or saddle pouch, was placed on a fresh horse, and a new rider rode off at a fast clip. The final rider is to arrive in Sacramento Friday, following the 10-day schedule used by the original Pony Express team. The riders try to stay on the original trail as much as possible.
