Ruby Lucille Williams Edwards, passed away at the Hillcrest Haven Convalescent Home in Pocatello, Idaho, on June 13, 1999.
Ruby was born Feb. 6, 1907, in Tooele, Utah, the daughter of George and Emma Williams. She was the oldest of ten brothers and sisters. She attended a one room school at Bates Creek, and high school at Tooele, Utah. She married Daniel Edwards, in Tooele, Utah on Dec. 23, 1924, and began their life together in Ophir, Utah. She was past president of the ladies auxiliary of the AFL-CIO, and worked on the Utah State Auxiliary Council, and was President of that organization as well, in Salt Lake City, Utah.Ruby and Dan were members of the Cottonwood Keggler Bowling League and enjoyed many years of bowling. Ruby and her husband moved to Pocatello, Idaho in 1954, with the Federal Mediation Service. She was very active in the LDS Church and held many positions. She especially enjoyed working with the children in the Primary and was Primary Counselor of the Pocatello, Idaho, 4th Ward. In 1957, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and purchased a home there. She loved her garden and shared her flowers every week with the Cottonwood Ward for 15 years. Ruby moved to Pocatello, Idaho to be with her daughter, Lucille Linford in 1996. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Sage Junction Camp, and a member of AARP.
She had a wonderful talent for arranging dried flowers in pictures, and won many awards for her arrangements at the Utah State Fair. She enjoyed sewing and crocheted an afghan for each of her grandchildren. She and her husband hunted, fished and enjoyed the out doors. They enjoyed singing together and sang at all the family get togethers, as well as just for fun.She was devoted to her family and took great pride in all of their accomplishments and encouraged them in all endeavors. We will miss her bright eyes and wonderful smile.
She is survived by two daughters, Lucille (Harold) Linford, of Pocatello Idaho and Jeanne (Jim) Jacobs of Cody, Wyoming; three brothers, Ross Williams, Tooele, Utah; Floyd Williams, Thousand Oaks, California; and Marvin Gunther, Provo, Utah. Two sisters, Emma Lou Harvey, and Margie Elkington, both of Tooele, Utah. Eight grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, daughter Connie Heath, infant daughter, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 1999, 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, where friends may call 10 - 10:50 a.m. Interment: Tooele City Cemetery.
