The International Hockey League is losing two of its members: The Fort Wayne Komets are moving to the United Hockey League and the Indianapolis Ice to the Central Hockey League.
"We're disappointed and saddened to see our oldest team announce plans to play in a league other than the IHL," said league president and CEO Douglas Moss of Fort Wayne.Moss added that "the Ice's request to suspend operations and create a new entity to operate a franchise in a lesser league in Indianapolis is uncommon in the IHL. . . . Ultimately, we believe Indianapolis has been a good IHL market in the past and we would hope to have the league return in the near future."
