Gas sellers offer reward for leads in W.V. shooting

WEST VALLEY CITY -- A reward is being offered by state and regional gas marketers for information that leads to the arrest of the person who shot and wounded a West Valley convenience store manager Wednesday morning.

The Western Petroleum Marketers and the Utah Petroleum Marketers and Retailers associations are offering a $1,000 reward, WPMA spokeswoman Gerry Tedrow."I hope that it will do some good. Whoever perpetrated this crime, somebody either had to know, or will know about it," Tedrow said.

"We want to get the message out that convenience stores are not stop and robs. This isn't acceptable."

Arnold William "Bill" Gray, 51, was shot and wounded while counting overnight receipts at the Holiday Oil, 3500 S. 6015 West, West Valley City, about 4:30 a.m.

Gray was taken by medical helicopter to LDS Hospital where he had emergency surgery to remove a bullet from his stomach.

He was listed in serious condition at the hospital Thursday, a spokeswoman said.
