Finals ratings slip without His Airness

NEW YORK (AP) -- The post-Michael Jordan era of the NBA Finals began with a thud when it comes to television ratings.

San Antonio's 89-77 win over the New York Knicks got an 11.5 rating and 21 share on NBC Wednesday night, down 36 percent from the 18.0 rating and 32 share for last year's opener between Jordan's Bulls and the Utah Jazz.It was the lowest rating for the opening game of the Finals since NBC began televising the NBA in the 1990-91 season.
