Obituary: William (Bill) Adams

William (Bill) Loren Adams, 51, passed away at his home in Midvale, UT, June 16, 1999, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Bill was born July 20, 1947 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. His parents were Wilfred and Esther Adams. His early education was in a one-room country school near Eleva, and he graduated from Eleva-Strum Central High School and University of Wisconsin-Madison.Bill's electrical engineering degree took him to jobs in Alabama, Pennsylvania, South Africa, Wyoming, and finally to Salt Lake City, Utah, which became his home for the last 23 years.

Bill found his soulmate and married Valerie Christensen Searle November 27, 1992. They spent nine wonderful years together.

He was employed at Kennecott Copper Mining Co., Hercules, Brown Automation and at E.G.&G. Defense Materials on a government contract until his illness.

Bill was an avid outdoors person, loving snow skiing, boating, camping, hiking, river rafting, sailing and scuba diving. He was always showing others how to enjoy these activities.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Wilfred. Survivors include his wife Valerie, stepsons Justin (Tawna) Searle, Robert, Mathew, and Joshua Searle at home; his mother Esther Adams of Eleva, Wisconsin; brothers Paul (JoAnn) Adams of Eleva, Wisconsin, and David Adams of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters Mary Adams of Marathon, Wisconsin, and Judy (Larry) Gifford of Madison, Wisconsin; a nephew and niece, Timothy and Rebecca Adams, and hosts of friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 10600 So. 1700 E., where friends may call Friday, evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and hour one prior to services. A memorial service will be held in Eleva at a later date.
