Obituary: Margaret F. Banta

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Josephine Fay Banta passed away after a lingering illness on Friday, June 18, 1999.

She was born October 22, 1921 in Montrose, Colorado to Morrison McMillan and Ola Ethel Wallis Fay. She grew up in Butte, Montana and married Robert Lee Banta on February 9, 1940. They lived in Montana until they came to Utah in 1947. Her husband preceded her in death on June 19, 1958. She was again married to Robert Christian Nielsen, who also preceded her in death on September 19, 1974. She was a devoted mother who rejoiced in her family, children, and grandchildren. She was very talented with her hands and created many gifts that will continue to be enjoyed by her family as her legacy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and was sealed to her first husband in the Salt Lake Temple on September 28, 1979.She is survived by her children: Norman Lee Banta, West Jordan; Peggy Jean Robison (Gary), Sandy; James Rodney Banta (Valerie), Sandy; and Robert Elbert Banta (Luann), Salt Lake City. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 1999, 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, where friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment Elysian Burial Gardens.
