Darrell Myron Waite, 63, has been called as director of the Liberty Jail Historic Site visitors center in Liberty, Mo. He will be accompanied by his wife, Arlene Foutz Waite. Elder Waite was born in Overton, Nev., to Marvin Herbert and Glenna Sylvia Leavitt Waite. He and Sister Waite have six children. They are currently serving in the Missouri Independence Mission. He is a former temple ordinance worker, high priests group leader, high councilor, bishop's counselor and branch president. He is a retired U.S. Army air defense officer and aviator with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He taught at Moapa Valley Middle School in Nevada from 1979-84. In 1995-96, the couple taught English at a university in Nanjing, China, as part of a BYU program. Sister Waite is a former stake missionary, temple ordinance worker, ward Relief Society and Primary president. Before their mission, they were living in the Logandale 2nd Ward, Logandale Nevada Stake.
