PROVO -- The Utah Valley Artists Guild will hold its monthly meeting, Wednesday, June 30, 7:30 p.m. at Provo Art and Frame, 101 W. Center St.
Vern Swanson will be this month's presenter. He will help guild members learn about the qualities needed to show paintings in a museum setting.Swanson will also critique paintings from guild members, explaining what is right and wrong with paintings from a museum curator's point of view. Each member is invited to bring two paintings they would like critiqued.
Swanson has been curator of the Springville Museum of Art since 1980. He has been an art consultant, assistant professor of art, teacher, gallery administrator and director. Swanson has also authored or co-authored six books and numerous articles on art and art history.
A new constitution has been written for the guild to help the organization run smoothly and provide members with greater possibilities to develop their artistic talents.
A draft of this constitution is available at Provo Art and Frame. Former members and the public are invited to read through it to decide if membership in the guild would benefit them.
Utah Valley Artist Guild meetings are held the last Wednesday of each month. All residents of Utah Valley are invited to become members.
Dues are $20 per year and may be paid at the meetings.
