Obituary: Lula Kirkman

Lula Kirkman passed away June 21, 1999, peacefully at home on the first day of summer to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Lula was born on October 5, 1932 in Ioka, Utah to Lindon Kent and Lila Bell Mecham Farnsworth. She married D. Leon Kirkman on March 2, 1960. She was raised in the Uintah Basin area. She graduated from Altamont High School, then attended Weber State College and worked at Hill Air Force Base. She also worked for several Doctors and hospitals as a medical secretary. She enjoyed painting and gardening. She received the award for yard of the month from the city of Pleasant Grove. She always kept a beautiful house and yard. Her ten grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings faithfully. In 1989 she and Leon moved to Rochester, MN and found that it was too cold. In 1990 they moved to Suquamish, WA, and found it too rainy, so in 1993 they returned to Utah and found it just right.Lula is survived by her husband, four daughters: Terri (Cary) Southworth, Orem; Melanie Kaye (David) Johnson, West Jordan; Dwendy (Stephen) Reid, South Jordan; Jenifer (Alan) Muir, Lindon, 10 granchildren and her cat "Lizzy." Additional survivors include a sister, Deloris (Blaine) Corbin of Vernal. She was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, 1999 at 1 p.m. in the North Field Sixth Ward Chapel, 408 West 1300 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
