CLINTON -- You can't purchase fireworks anywhere in the city now, but that hasn't stopped the City Council from drafting a new ordinance to regulate their sale.
At its June 22 meeting, the council passed its first-ever fireworks ordinance. "It's preparatory," City Manager Dennis Cluff said. The city currently has no stores or booths that sell fireworks, but once the new Albertson's store opens this fall, he believes Clinton will have both store and booth sales of fireworks next summer.
He stressed the new ordinance is nothing different from what most other cities already have on their books.
"We borrowed from other cities," Cluff said.
