Gerald Tado Tanabe, 72, passed away June 2, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born Nov. 30, 1926 in Port Blakley, Washington to Joichi and Yoshi Togawa Tanabe. He married Yoshi Nakai Feb. 23, 1952 in Spokane, WA. She died Feb. 1992. Gerald was devoted to his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.He was active in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master, Beehive Golf Club, loved fishing, golfing, and the out of doors. He attended schools in Washington and two years college in the Chicago area. He was interned at the Minnidoka Idaho camp during World War II. He worked 23 years chick sexing and 40 years in wholesale produce working at Associate Foods and later general manager at Quality Produce.
Surviving are: Beloved companion, Nancy Takagi of Salt Lake City; son, Jeffery (Paula) Tanabe of Centerville, Utah; daughter, Julie (Mark) Rogers of Salt Lake City; grandchildren: Jennifer and Jacob Rogers of Salt Lake City; brothers and sisters: Aussie (Shozo) Hiraizumi of Gardena, CA; Yoshi (Toyze) Katsuyama of Monterey Park CA; Kim Watanabe of Duluth, GA; George (Irene) Tanabe of Seattle, WA. Preceded in death by: wife, Yoshi, son, Rodney, brother, Paul, sister, Polly Yabutani.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 7, 1999, 11 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.), where friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment Mountain View Memorial Estates.
