CORONA,CA--Memorial services for Gorden Taggart Hodges, 65, former Preston, Idaho resident, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 1999, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 No. State. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday at the Stake Center. Gorden is presumed dead after a helicopter crash off the southern California coast.
He was born January 17, 1934, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Cecil and Janett Hodges. He graduated from Preston High School in 1952, and married Louise Cole on May 31, 1956, in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to California where he attended Northrop Aeronautical Institute.His military service was in the U.S Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.
He has been active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities: missionary in the Great Lakes Mission (1954-56), the Sunday School organization, Elders Quorum and High Priest Group presidencies, ward clerk, Bishop, and Boy Scout Committee Chairman. He was employed by Southern California Edison for 32 years as a Maintenance Inspector and most recently a helicopter pilot.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Kimberly, both of Corona, California; and son, Clendon, his wife Kathy and their children: Anthony, Brandon, Katie, and Kevin, all of Riverside, California; two sisters, Kerma Greaves and Pauline Jensen, both of Twin Falls, Idaho; and by a brother, Bruce Hodges, of Preston, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Gorden T. Hodges, Scout Committee Chairman, Troop 233, Temescal District, Address: Boy Scouts of America, 1230 Indiana Court, Redlands, CA 92374. Memorial services will also be held on Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at the Corona Stake Center, 1501 Taber Road, Corona, California.
